Segment 5 Double Track Project
Herzog, as managing sponsor of the design-build joint venture, was responsible for the day-to-day management and track construction of this project. The project included the construction of 46 miles of double track on the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority right-of-way. The project included installation of new track, upgrades to existing track performed under live track, construction and rehabilitation of bridges, upgrades to signal-safety systems, upgrades to passenger information systems, expansion and renovation of ten existing stations, construction of one new station in Boca Raton, and construction of over 72 grade crossings. This project crossed through 10 different cities in the Fort Lauderdale area. We developed traffic control plans for more than 72 grade crossings; multiple crossings involved multi-lane intersections. Traffic and pedestrian controls also addressed the influx of tourists during the summer months.
