DCTA A-train Maintenance Facility
Herzog oversaw the design and construction of this maintenance facility for the new start commuter rail DCTA services. The project is located on 78 acres where we constructed over 14,000 track feet and a 56,000 square foot pre-engineered building. The maintenance shop included two 150 foot long maintenance pits serviced by compressed air, water, train exhaust systems, and inspection mezzanine. The shop contains a rail truck turntable, jib crane and 2 bridge cranes for changing out car components. The state-of-art drive through train washing system has an oil water separator and reclaim tank, along with a stationary wash system with remote washing stations. Other improvements included site lighting, a 164 stall parking lot, half mile concrete access drive and fire lane, and two service roads that access the yard tracks.
