Overview
This new-start light rail project consisted of three-miles of embedded double track guideway (six track miles) including tangent track, curved track, turnouts and crossings, modification of bridges and replacement of the Grand Canal Bridge on Central Avenue, six station platform foundations, overhead catenary system (OCS), system-wide electrical duct bank installation, site demolition, and extensive public utility relocations. Urban enhancements included street widening and roadway improvements, new sidewalks, drainage modifications, new traffic signals, street lighting, landscaping, and irrigation. The LRT alignment was constructed in the heavily traveled Central Avenue median between Camelback Road and McDowell Road.
