Overview

The FrontRunner South Commuter Rail from Salt Lake City to Provo, UT was the second of two major commuter rail projects for UTA. The project included construction of 45 miles of new commuter rail immediately adjacent to an active Union Pacific Railroad freight rail corridor, spanning two counties and 12 different cities. As part of a joint venture partnership, Herzog’s construction scope included ballasted trackwork, eight station platforms, park and ride facilities, earthwork, bridges, joint-use at-grade crossings, major utility relocations, a pedestrian undercrossing, and fiber optic ductbank that parallels the entire track.
