Overview

Herzog was part of a design-build joint venture to construct the Division 16: Southwestern Yard project, a consolidated operations and maintenance (O&M) facility that will serve both the Crenshaw/LAX Line and the Metro Green Line. The 17.6-acre site and facility has the capacity to store 70 new light rail vehicles (LRVs). The track configuration and site layout supports safe and effective LRV movements for switching between functional facilities and storage tracks, and switching between the O&M facility and the mainline tracks. The facility includes a main shop, LRV car wash, cleaning platform, material storage building, a traction power substation (TPSS) site, two signal houses, paint/body shop, wheel truing shop, and a blow down facility.
