Overview

This light rail project extended the San Diego Green Line Trolley by six miles from the Old Town Transit Center eastward through Mission Valley to Qualcom Stadium. The project scope included 12 miles of double track (16,025 ft of ballasted at-grade track and 15,611 ft of aerial direct fixation track), eight cast-in-place box girder bridges totaling 6,700 ft with a major crossing over the San Diego River, fives station, 12 special trackwork units, overhead catenary system (OCS), and train control signals. Cast-in-place and mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) retaining walls were used extensively throughout the project in conjunction with the excavation and grading operations.
