Overview
Herzog was the managing partner of the design-build joint venture that constructed the final phase of double tracking over 46 miles of the 72-mile state-owned South Florida Rail Corridor (SFRC), one of the most active corridors in the nation. The project expanded and enhanced the capacity of the rail system and right-of-way used daily by the Tri-County Commuter Rail Authority (Tri-Rail) for commuter rail passenger service, CSXT Railway for freight service, and Amtrak for intercity passenger service. Construction work included the installation of 46 miles of track, 11 new stations, 36 new grade crossing and the rehabilitation of four bridges. All work was performed in a live track environment.
