Overview
Herzog performed the redevelopment of the entire airside of South Caicos Airport for the Turks & Caicos Islands Airports Authority. This project was separated into three phases to maintain full operation of the airport during construction. The scope of work included the complete regrading of the site to raise the overall elevation, reconstruction of the runway, the apron, and two taxiways, completion of all associated grooving and line markings, installation of concrete drainage infrastructure, a water storage reservoir, curbs, and new perimeter fencing. Electrical work included upgrading all airside electrical to accommodate new LED fixtures and inset lighting on the runway, taxiways, and apron; as well as the installation of a new Field Electrical Center to house the electrical controls and new Precision Approach Path Indicators (PAPI) with retrofits for the wind.
