Overview

The Gateway LRT extension to the Central Business District LRT system provides connectivity to the intermodal center serving the commuter rail service from Weber County, Utah to Salt Lake City, Utah. As part of a joint venture, Herzog constructed this 2.5-mile embedded double track project in the logistically-challenging business and entertainment district of downtown Salt Lake City. The construction team maintained regular business, pedestrian, and traffic flow through the construction phase. The project also involved utility relocations, drainage improvements, earthwork and track construction, three stations, street improvements, traction power facilities, train control systems, and intersection improvements with traffic signal upgrades.
