Dave Friehl Receives Beavers Supervision Award

On January 13th, Herzog Contracting Corp.’s Dave Friehl was awarded the Supervision Award by the Beavers in Los Angeles, CA at the 2023 Golden Beavers Awards Dinner. This prestigious award celebrates Dave’s excellence in leadership, achievements, and meritorious service that benefits and provides distinction to the heavy construction industry.

This is the second award Dave has received during his time with Herzog, the first being the NRC Field Employee of the Year Award in 2012. Dave has a wealth of experience from 42 years working in the rail construction industry with the last 32 years spent with Herzog. He currently serves as a General Superintendent and Construction Manager. Dave has been a part of 20+ railroad projects for Herzog worth billions of dollars. Dave is always working on multiple projects at a time making his demanding schedule almost impossible for some.

Dave carries a reputation of expertise, safety-first, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. His “can-do” attitude and willingness to share his immense knowledge has made him a strong leader in the field. The respect Dave receives from individuals in the rail industry isn’t strictly due to his experience, but the true and real relationships he develops with field employees.

Dave takes care of his teams anyway he can, including his meticulous attention to detail. He is always in the field in real-time to help lead and make decisions. He meets with everyone on a project to ensure everything is ready today, tomorrow, next week, and so on. This attention to detail builds a safer work environment and creates quality work that ensures the owner/client is receiving the best every time.

Throughout his extensive and impressive career, Dave has maintained a happy family life as a husband to his wife Peggy of 35 years, a father of four, and a grandfather of four. His family shared that they are proud of Dave’s great work ethic, his supportive attitude, and his humility.

Many believe Dave is making a difference in the rail industry through his passion and expertise. He is an example to younger generations on how an expert leads and always does what is right regardless of the situation. Dave has proven time and again he is dedicated to his craft, he is someone who can be relied upon, and that he will find a safe way to do it right.

Herzog congratulates Dave on this distinguished award that recognizes and celebrates all his hard work, dedication, and passion for our industry.
