GPS Ballast Trains
Once a pre-survey has marked facilities and tonnages in long stretches of right-of-way, profile data is loaded onto Herzog’s patented PLUS and SMART trains. These high-speed, automated GPS trains cover significant distances in one high-speed consist unloading quickly and accurately, maximizing your productivity.

Automated Conveyor Train
Herzog’s Automated Conveyor Train℠ (ACT℠) sets the standard for high volume unloading of multiple material types in a single consist, saving valuable track time. The ACT unloads ballast and other materials in curves, hard-to-access areas, yards, mainline, and sidings for stockpiling new construction, or washouts.

Solar Ballast Car
Our individual solar-powered cars transport and unload ballast for standard maintenance, new construction, or washouts. There is no consist restriction with solar cars. Customers can lease as many cars as they need.

Multi-Purpose Machine
Our specialized, on-track Multi-Purpose Machine can be dispatched to locations in need of limited amounts of ballast maintenance in critical, constricted areas such as yards or crossings.

CarTopper® Material Handling Services
Herzog’s CarTopper® Material Handling Services machine self-propels itself onto the top of railcars and distributes material along the right-of-way as the train moves along the track.
- Can lower into the car when traveling under bridges or low hanging obstructions
- Unloads 200 tons of aggregate per hour
