Self-Propelled Material Handling Machine
The versatile CarTopper® Material Handling Services machine self-mounts from the ground to an operational position on top of the rail cars. After the job is complete, it dismounts without assistance.
The machine moves from car to car, loading or unloading materials within the right-of-way (ROW) as the work train moves along the track.

Herzog developed and built the first CarTopper after identifying a need for a more efficient and safer method of loading and unloading crossties from railcars that requires only one operator while reducing the need for ground personnel.
