Doing the heavy lifting for you
Self-Loading Rail Train
Conventional rail trains require that the first rail loaded onto each tier of a rail train be manually guided throughout the length of the rail train consist.
Our engineers and planners at Herzog saw a need for a more user-friendly machine to load continuous welded rail (CWR) onto rail trains for transport.

Rail loading and unloading
New track construction
Short line railroads
Rail transit systems
Easing the burden
Herzog’s Self-Loading Rail Train is fully-operated and maintained by Herzog. The train uses a guide running from one end to the other to keep CWR on track and allow safe movement into position on the train.
Capable of handling 50 rails up to 141lbs, this machine is interchangeable among all Class 1 railroads and compatible with conventional unloading equipment or the Herzog RUM.
Self-Loading Rail Train Features
-
Center Guide The center beam provides a guide rail on which the rail being loaded can safely follow to its final position on the rail train.
-
Increased Safety A walking platform is built on top of the train and extends the entire length, making the job of workers more safe and efficient.
-
User-Friendly Rail can be loaded from either end of the rail train and keeps personnel from having to manipulate heavy rail by hand.
