Kiewit, Stacy Witbeck, and Herzog Joint Venture Awarded Contract with California High-Speed Rail Authority

The California High-Speed Rail Authority (CAHSRA) recently awarded the Track and Systems Construction Contract to a Joint Venture of Kiewit, Stacy Witbeck, and Herzog.

The award of this contract is a significant milestone for the California High-Speed Rail program. This program will see the construction of the nation’s first true high-speed rail system, revolutionizing transportation across California. To-date, the program has created over 19,000 jobs and generated approximately $25B in economic impact and growth across California.

The Joint Venture team will work with CAHSRA to finalize the design and then construct the track and systems infrastructure for the 171-mile-long Early Operating Segment connecting Merced, Madera, Fresno, Kings/Tulare, and Bakersfield in California’s Central Valley. The Joint Venture team is responsible for the full build-out and integration of ballasted track, train control elements, and overhead contact systems (OCS), including the testing and commissioning of the high-speed rail system.

The project is divided into multiple work packages and will be progressed concurrently from both the north and south ends of the 119-mile project corridor.

Herzog is honored to join Kiewit and Stacy Witbeck in this landmark project to deliver the U.S.’s first true high-speed system. Herzog is looking forward to working with our Joint Venture partners and stakeholders as this project advances through preconstruction and into construction.

The Track and Systems Construction Contract is being delivered with the Construction Manager/General Contractor (CMGC) delivery method. Construction activities and track placement are expected to begin later this summer.
