Overview

Herzog’s Heavy Highway team constructed this project on Interstate 35 from Cameron, MO north approximately 15-miles. The project was a 2 inch mill and resurfacing project, using one of the highest quality Superpave Mix Designs on the mainline that MoDOT requires. As part of MoDOT’s continued effort to improve their road quality, the project also had a Balanced Mix Design (BMD) Performance Testing and Increased Density specification requirement. This new BMD proved to be both a challenge and success as the Heavy Highway Quality Control group worked through designing and building a superior mix that the laydown crews were able to achieve maximum incentive bonuses for performance criteria, leading to one of the best pavements the division has ever constructed. Additionally, the project had Concrete Pavement Repair Patching, Asphalt Patching, Guardrail Improvements, Pavement Markings and Drainage Improvements.
