Herzog Transit Services, Inc. – Chief Operating Officer
As Chief Operating Officer, Bret oversees day-to-day transit operations for Herzog Transit Services, Inc. and its subsidiary company, TransitAmerica Services, Inc. His team provides operations and maintenance services for 13 transit properties in major cities across North America. Prior to nationwide reductions in service in 2020, Herzog transported nearly 37 million passengers annually.
Bret has amassed more than 30 years of experience in railroad maintenance and public transit with Herzog. He has progressed from a laborer on construction projects to, most recently, general manager of Caltrain, Herzog’s largest transit property under contract. Bret is a dedicated, customer-focused executive who is committed to running safe, efficient, and reliable rail transit systems. He is a skilled negotiator, capable of striking fair and effective contract agreements with unions.
Bret is a member of several industry associations including the American Railway Engineering & Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA), American Public Transportation Association (APTA), and the National Railroad Construction & Maintenance Association (NRCMA).
