Jon Schlegel

Herzog Contracting Corp. – Vice President of Strategic Partnerships

Jon Schlegel is a seasoned transit executive with over 30 years of leadership experience across the commuter rail, light rail, streetcar, and bus transportation sectors. As Vice President of Strategic Partnerships, Jon leads national efforts to build and strengthen relationships with public transit agencies, industry partners, and stakeholders. He plays a key role in shaping Herzog’s long-term growth strategy while supporting the company’s National Construction, Transit, and Technology Divisions.

Jon has overseen the successful launch and management of multiple high-profile rail industry projects on a national level, including new streetcar systems in Kansas City and Oklahoma City, serving as a trusted project lead and operational expert. Over the course of his career, he has directed teams of up to 170 employees and held leadership roles in business development, operations, project management and marketing.

A graduate of Indiana University with a bachelor’s degree in Public Affairs: Transportation, Jon is certified in both rail safety and security and serves on the Board of Directors for the Community Streetcar Coalition. He is widely respected for his operational insight, start-up expertise, and ability to build strategic partnerships that move transit forward.
