Herzog Services, Inc. – Senior Vice President of Quality Assurance & Rail Detection Innovation

As Senior Vice President of Quality Assurance & Rail Detection Innovation, Troy Elbert drives the alignment of corporate-wide quality management practices across multiple departments. He is also responsible for being a part of future evolution/integration of inspection technology platforms. Troy’s specialty within inspection technologies is the development of Herzog’s suite of rail flaw detection products.

Troy first joined Herzog in 1997 as an ultrasonic, non-destructive rail technician. Throughout his career, his background in electrical engineering has helped Herzog explore new rail flaw detection technology, its various applications, and ways it can be improved. During his tenure as President and Assistant Vice President of Operations, he was named as a co-inventor on patents covering ultrasonic phased array inspection for railroads.

Troy earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Missouri Western State University and is also American Society of Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) NDT Level lll certified. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Railway Engineering-Maintenance Suppliers Association, Inc. (REMSA) and is a member of the American Railway Engineering & Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA). He is also an active participant in the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA).
