Herzog Services, Inc. – Senior Vice President of Quality Assurance & Rail Detection Innovation
As Senior Vice President of Quality Assurance & Rail Detection Innovation, Troy Elbert drives the alignment of corporate-wide quality management practices across multiple departments. He is also responsible for being a part of future evolution/integration of inspection technology platforms. Troy’s specialty within inspection technologies is the development of Herzog’s suite of rail flaw detection products.
Troy first joined Herzog in 1997 as an electronic technician helping to develop and engineer improvements to Herzog’s rail flaw detection systems. Throughout his career, his background in electronic engineering has helped Herzog explore new rail flaw detection technology, its various applications, and ways it can be improved. During his tenure as President and Assistant Vice President, he was named as a co-inventor on patents covering ultrasonic phased array inspection and SmartProbe technology for railroads.
Troy earned a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering Technology from Missouri Western State University and is also American Society of Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) NDT Level lll certified. He is actively involved with ASNT and currently serves on the board of directors for the Railway Engineering-Maintenance Suppliers Association, Inc. (REMSA). He is also a member of the American Society of Quality (ASQ), American Railway Engineering & Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA), and the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA).
