Herzog is gearing up for a crucial phase on the DART Silver Line project—Positive Train Control (PTC) testing! Late this year, a group of employees from Herzog Transit Services, Inc. and Archer Western Herzog loaded sandbags totaling 100,000 lbs. into one of the new Stadler FLIRT trains, which will simulate the maximum passenger load in the toughest braking conditions.
This is a central aspect of PTC integration testing, and our team will ensure a thorough evaluation is performed on this critical safety component of DART’s vehicles. These trains are set to utilize the same proven PTC back office as TEXRail and Trinity Railway Express. Testing will be conducted along the TEXRail commuter line until sections of the Silver Line are ready for action in late 2024.
