This week, the TransitAmerica Services Inc. (TASI)* / Alternate Concepts (ACI) JV became the first intercity/commuter passenger rail service provider to gain FRA approval for their System Safety Program Plan (SSPP) on the CTrail Hartford Line between New Haven, CT, and Springfield, MA. The SSPP complies with the new FRA 49 CFR § 270 regulation which “systematically evaluates railroad safety hazards and the resulting risks on their systems and manages those risks to reduce the number and rates of railroad accidents, incidents, injuries, and fatalities.”

“The System Safety Program Plan is a guidebook on how to safely operate a passenger railroad and it just shows how much everyone here at TASI is committed to passenger safety,” said Tom McCarthy, TASI General Manager.

Herzog extends its thanks to all who contributed to the plan’s development and positioned TASI as a trailblazer for future transit system safety program plans.

*TASI is a subsidiary of Herzog Transit Services, Inc.
