Overview
This express intercity passenger rail system expansion project consists of track and signal capacity improvements and new Class 6 rail infrastructure to achieve maximum allowable train speeds of 110 mph within this 129-mile double track rail corridor. Scopes of work include 400,000 cubic yards of excavation, relocating 107 miles of fiber optic, 100,000 square feet of retaining walls, 156 modified and upgraded grade crossings, 35 turnouts, 29 crossovers, one million tons of ballast, 106 miles of new track, shifting 55 miles of existing track, upgrading 30 miles of existing mainline and siding track, 28 new bridges with the longest bridge structure at 1,667 feet in length, and new signal and wayside infrastructure including 250 new signal houses and an I-ETMS Positive Train Control system. All work is performed within the active FECR rail corridor.
