Overview

This light rail project extended two existing Utah Transit Authority (UTA) TRAX lines – the Mid-Jordan extension added 10.6-miles to the TRAX Red Line and the Draper extension added 3.7-miles to the TRAX Blue Line. Between the two extensions, project elements included guideway earthwork, utilities, 14.3 miles of at-grade ballasted double track, six rail bridges designed for LRT and freight loading, three box culverts, 39 grade crossings, 12 stations, 12 park and ride lots, retaining walls, and sound walls. Systems work included 12 traction power substations (TPSS), an overhead catenary system (OCS), communications, signals, traffic preemption, and integration into the UTA control center.
