Overview

This CMGC grade separation project removes the at-grade crossing at Broadway and replaces it with a new 5,400-ft-long rail bridge structure. Major scopes of work include 14,600 ft of mainline ballasted track, 85,672 sqft of MSE retaining wall structures, temporary shoring, 7,300 lf of OCS, 42,000 cy of excavation, soil stabilization (deep soil mixing), drainage structure modifications at Easton and Sanchez Creek, and three pedestrian tunnel crossings through the retained fill grade separation structure. To maintain Caltrain railroad operations during construction, two 8,000-ft-long temporary shoofly tracks will be built and electrified directly to the east of the existing mainline tracks. The existing Caltrain Broadway Station will be relocated onto the bridge structure. The new station features an 875-foot center-boarding platform with ramp and stair access. The project will also include new car and bicycle parking on the east side of the tracks with access from Carolan Ave.
