Overview
In April 2017, Herzog was awarded a contract to operate and maintain Trinity Metro’s (formerly the Fort Worth Transportation Authority) regional rail system, known as TEXRail. TEXRail launched in January 2019 and operates between Fort Worth, TX and the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) in a 27-mile rail corridor. Herzog now provides PTC hosting, dispatching and vehicle operations, rolling stock maintenance, and right-of-way activities including track structure and signal systems.
TEXRail began operations with a fleet of eight new FLIRT DMUs manufactured by Stadler Bussnang AG. Service includes nine regular station stops, beginning with 69 trains per weekday and 47 trains on both Saturday and Sunday (with 30-minute headways during peak hours and 60-minute headways during non-peak and weekends). TEXRail shares the corridor with Fort Worth and Western freight trains and the Grapevine Vintage Railroad.
