Overview

This new start commuter rail project extends 27-miles from downtown Fort Worth, through seven cities, and terminates at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFWIA) Terminal B. The project scope included 142,560 ft of ballasted track, 900 ft of direct fixation track, 27 bridge structures totaling 12,728 ft of aerial track with major crossings over the Trinity River and nine bodies of water, the Union Pacific Railroad (UP) Peach Yard, and 22 lanes of SH121 and SH114, 49 signalized grade crossings, 32 switches, an interoperable Positive Train Control (PTC) system, 747,798 cy of earthwork, 3.8 miles of underground utility improvements, 52,669 lf of installed/relocated utilities, nine passenger stations, 1,250 park-and-ride spaces, and 241,000 sf of walls. During peak construction, 450 employees were mobilized for the project. At the project’s conclusion 2.76 million manhours had been logged.
