Overview

In 2012, Herzog Transit Services, Inc.’s subsidiary TRANSITAMERICA℠ (TASI) began operations and maintenance of Caltrain service from San Francisco through San Jose to Gilroy, CA. The 52-mile right-of-way is owned by the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board (PCJPB) and the Union Pacific Railroad. Caltrain, ACE, Amtrak, and freight service all operate and share the mainline track. TASI’s scope-of-work includes train operations; dispatching all traffic on this mixed-use corridor; maintenance of equipment and rolling stock at three different locations; station and facility maintenance; and maintenance-of-way services including track, structures, communications, and signals.
