Overview
In a joint venture partnership, Herzog is providing operations and maintenance for Tren Urbano service in Puerto Rico. Herzog’s joint venture partner created a startup organization of approximately 400 locally hired and trained professionals and prepared this team to perform every operations and maintenance function. The joint venture self-performs all of the major operations and maintenance services, subcontracting with local businesses for specialized services including escalators/elevator maintenance, fire protection, rolling gates, air conditioning, security, power, engineering, drug and alcohol testing, and revenue collection.
Tren Urbano serves major destinations such as the University of Puerto Rico, the financial district, major medical facilities, the Coliseum, other sports and entertainment venues, and numerous residential neighborhoods. Train service operates seven days per week from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. with 8-minute peak period headways.
