Overview

This CM@Risk new-start modern streetcar project included 4.4 track miles of 112 TRAM Block rail, 16 platform stops, four traction power substations (TPSS), 280 pole foundations for an overhead catenary system (OCS), new or rehabilitated traffic signals at 22 intersections, street lighting, and a new three-bay 25,000 sf LEED Gold vehicle maintenance facility (VMF). The streetcar’s in-street running two-mile loop was constructed in mixed traffic, northbound and southbound, along Main Street through many of downtown Kansas City’s most vibrant business, community, and entertainment districts that had a high volume of pedestrians and vehicular traffic. The project was completed on time under an aggressive schedule in just 24 months from groundbreaking to completion.
