Overview
This modern streetcar project extends the existing in-street running system 3.6 miles and includes 18,000 cy of earthwork, 6.88 track miles of 115RE embedded track, special trackwork including one embedded double crossover, three embedded single crossovers, one embedded turnout, and two No. 4 embedded turnouts. A 5,313 sf expansion to the existing vehicle maintenance facility (VMF) adds a new Track 4 service bay with 310 track ft of 115RE shop track and a turntable, and VMF yard modifications include 243 ft of 115RE ballasted track. There are 13 single sided station stops, two double sided station stops, and a multi-modal transfer station with streetcar and bus transfer platforms. Systems work includes five Traction Power Substations (TPSS), 356 pole foundations for the Overhead Catenary System (OCS), train control, 33,429 lf of communications ductbank with 97 vaults and/or pullboxes, 2,300 lf of upgraded communication and fiber ductbank with eight splice vaults for the existing starterline system, new or rehabilitated traffic signals at 19 intersections, and street lighting. Drainage and structure work consists of existing street drainage system upgrades, new bioretention stormwater infrastructure, new reinforced concrete box (RCB) drainage inlets, 5,836 sf of MSE Block retaining wall, and the relocation and reconstruction of 1,663 lf of the Trolley Trail.
