Overview

This streetcar extension project consisted of approximately 0.75 miles of embedded double track construction extending from the existing Colorado/Beckley stop adjacent to the Methodist Dallas Medical Center at the Beckley Avenue and Zang Boulevard intersection to its termination at West 7th Street in the Bishop Arts District. The streetcar required in-street construction, tying into an existing live streetcar system, reconfiguration of the existing Colorado/Beckley Stop to allow for extension of the existing streetcar line, four embedded switches, overhead catenary system (OCS), and two new platform stops: Zang/Sixth, and Zang/Davis. The in-street running streetcar has a maximum design speed of 45 mph.
