Overview

This new start modern streetcar system consisted of 5.3 miles of in-street running revenue track and 0.6 miles of non-revenue track (maintenance facility yard track) for a total of 5.9 miles of track. Project work included 30,088 ft of embedded 51R1 track, 678 ft of ballasted yard track, track drains, 15,048 cy of roadway excavation to accommodate the new trackbed, 22 station stops, 240 overhead catenary system (OCS) foundations and poles, 18,000 lf of overhead contact wire, six traction power substations (TPSS), streetcar utilities, concrete flat work, modification to 26 traffic signals, new water mains, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer lines. The streetcar operates 40% of the alignment off-wire – this allows the streetcars to travel under a BNSF rail bridge and through the Bricktown entertainment district without OCS.
