Overview

This commuter rail expansion project included the construction of 46 miles of second mainline ballasted track on this 72-mile rail corridor under live track conditions, 13 miles of relocated siding track, upgrades to the existing track, 42 switches, 70 at-grade crossings, 24 new or upgraded railway bridge structures, expansion and renovations at 10 existing stations, construction of one new station in Boca Raton, 336 new parking spots at four stations, and upgrades to the communication and signal system. The passenger stations were expanded to include vertical circulation from parking lots to access platforms with elevators and overhead passenger walkways.
