Overview

This commuter rail project extends SunRail commuter rail service by 12 miles north to DeLand from its current northern terminus at DeBary Station. Within the 12-mile project alignment, a four-mile section of the Central Florida Rail Corridor (CFRC) will be double tracked along with signal and communication systems infrastructure improvements to allow SunRail trains to operate at a speed of 79 mph. Project elements include clearing and grubbing a combined 25 acres within the 12 mile alignment, 65,196 cy of earthwork, 2,846 lf of utilities and drainage, 31,129 ft of ballasted track, four vehicular grade crossings, one new center platform passenger station at DeLand, 72 lf of crash walls, a new pedestrian tunnel under the CFRC mainline tracks, and roadway improvements with 1,147 tons of asphalt.
